Painting Bamboo with a camera

Painting a Bamboo with my camera

Bamboo is one of the most popular subjects found in Chinese painting ...

It is said that bamboo symbolizes resilience and integrity because
bamboo bends under extreme forces but does not break.

Because of these two qualities, bamboo is a common theme in Chinese paintings.

Unknown to many, bamboo is a grass and not a tree.
Delicate in appearance yet known for its strength, its slender stems and
lush covering of delicate leaves represents durability and vigor.

When I was in Chinese School, we learn to paint the bamboo with the brush, sad to say
I never had any talent painting them successfully,
Today, I just paint them with my camera ...

Yes, bamboo is my friend, growing here in Hawaii.
It is my flute.
The Qi Master told my husband to drink bamboo water.

I'm glad to have met you, talented heart friend!

The bamboo has so much to teach us about strength and resilience - as you say, to bend but not to break. These are wonderful photos of this marvelous subject, Wong. It is so hard to present a timeless image with new eyes, but you have done this! Whenever I see bamboo in person, I always think of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and always think there will be a hand-lettered poem hanging next to it!

Wonderful in black and white! Bamboo seems to be so much related with caligraphy: those segments in its stem look like strokes of a brush. Love these photos!
