The Sultan Abdul Samad Building
is located in front of the Dataran Merdeka or Merdeka Square (独立广场)
(Independence Square) and the Royal Selangor Club (皇家雪兰莪俱乐部).
The structure takes its name from Sultan Abdul Samad (苏丹阿都沙末),
the reigning sultan (苏丹) of Selangor (雪兰莪) at the time when construction began in
1894 and completed in 1897.
It formerly housed the superior courts (最高法院) of the country, I think the
superior courts have moved to the new Government hub (新政府枢纽)
at Putrajaya (普特拉贾亚).
Currently, the building houses the offices of the
Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture of Malaysia
